Training and education: online, offline, classroom and webinars – What is it and how do you build it?
A content authoring tool is a software that learning designers use to create and package learning content for learners.
According to Wikipedia.org, “a content authoring tool is a software application used to create multimedia content typically for delivery on the World Wide Web. Content-authoring tools can be cloud based or local to your machine. They may also create content in other file formats so the training can be delivered on a CD (compact disc), SCORM, HTML5 or in other formats for various different uses.
Many programs can be considered authoring tools, including Flash, and PowerPoint. However, only a small group of programs specifically include support for e-learning content standards such as SCORM (Shareable Content Object Reference Model) or AICC (CBT) (Aviation Industry CBT Committee).
Today; Flash is not supported and platforms like ours promote the active use of:
Self paced learning – eLearning, communiques, news feeds, video, audio, and more
Blended or Instructor Led Training with face to face classrooms and or webinar where mixed groups might join locally and or online.
Assessments, quizzes, surveys and instructor les assessments help check for skill level and competency
Learning tracks, pathways and journeys allow you to deliver content in a structured way over time so as not to overwhelm the learner.
